2 volumi, il primo in 8, cm 21,5 x 27, pp. (4) + XIV + (2) + 139 + (1 bianca); il secondo in 4, cm 28 x 35, con 28 tavole (da numerazione 27 perché presenti la 1 e la 1 bis). Fioriture sparse alle pagine. Legatura coeva in mezza pelle con qualche abrasione ai dorsi e alle cerniere. Saggio relativo agli ingenti lavori idraulici, compiuti a Lione, per l’ampiamento e la sistemazione dei canali di ridistribuzione delle acque del Rodano filtrate. “Aristide Dumont was the author and promoter of the irrigation canal supplying the waters of Rhone River for large reaches of the Lower Rhone and the Languedoc departments. In addition, he was the engineer supplying cities such as Lyon and Nimes with drinking water. Dumont went through the standard French engineering education at Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Ponts et Chaussees. In 1840 he was transferred to Tournon first, then stationed at the Rhone navigation section where he started working for the river which determined all his life. His first book published in 1842 related the Rhone River to both protection against inundations and industrial. In the same year, he was asked to visit Lombardy in Northern Italy to study the methods used there fo the river management” (W. Hager, “Hydraulicians in Europe 1800-2000″, vol. 2, 2014, p. 938).
